Duo to compete in All-Star basketball games

Corona del Mar High’s Blake Grable and Costa Mesa’s Molly Settles are set to compete in the 48th annual Orange County North South High School Basketball 12th-Grade All-Star games Saturday at Concordia University in Irvine.

The girls’ game is at 5 p.m. and the boys play at 7 p.m. All high school kids and younger are free.

Grable earned All-CIF Southern Section Division 3AA honors after helping lead the Sea Kings to the semifinals. He also made the All-Pacific Coast League first team, as he led CdM (21-10, 8-2 in league) to a runner-up finish in league. The Sea Kings reached the semifinals for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Grable averaged 12.7 points per game for the season. He converted 41 three-pointers.

Settles, a forward, earned first-team All-Orange Coast League honors. She led Costa Mesa (15-13, 6-4) by averaging 12.5 points per game, helping the Mustangs tie for third in league and advance to the CIF Southern Section Division 4AA playoffs.

Settles, also a volleyball player, has committed to Johnson & Wales in Denver, Colo., where she has a scholarship to play volleyball.
