College Roundup: UCI’s Aikhionbare does not advance in discus

AUSTIN, Texas — UC Irvine sophomore Itos Aikhionbare did not advance in the discus throw Friday.

Her best mark was 150-9 (45.96 meters) which did not make the final 12 that will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.

Friday’s action was delayed over four hours due to weather in the Austin area.

On Saturday, junior Lacey Surak competes in the javelin throw at 10 a.m., while Aikhionbare is in the shotput at 4 p.m.

UCI sophomore Mason Miller concluded his 2013 season Friday in the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Austin, Texas.

In the shotput prelims, Miller had a top mark of 55-11 ¼ (17.05 meters) and did not advance to the finals.
