High School Roundup: CdM, Newport Harbor to meet in South Coast semifinals

South Coast Tournament

Corona del Mar High advanced to the semifinals after beating Dana Hills, 8-6, Friday at CdM.

The Sea Kings (3-2) will play against rival Newport Harbor Saturday at 11:45 a.m. in the Sailors pool. The other semifinal is Mater Dei against Long Beach Wilson at 10:40 a.m. at Newport Harbor.

The championship game is at 4:05 p.m. at Newport Harbor.

Against Dana Hills, senior Matt Sherburne scored four goals and senior Jay Neiger scored two goals for CdM. Senior Charlie Rodosky and junior Ashton Jajonie added one goal each, while goalie Ryan Hamm made 10 saves.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Sage Hill def. Whitney

Kekai Whitford had 11 kills, two aces and nine digs to help the Lightning to a 25-10, 25-9, 25-21 Academy League win Friday at Sage Hill.

Halland McKenna had eight kills and six digs and Allie Mowrey had seven aces and seven digs for Sage Hill (12-4, 2-0 in league), ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division 3-A.

The Lightning play against Brethren Christian Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Liberty Christian.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Sage Hill 16, Crean Lutheran 2

Jaclyn Gershultz and Amira Tarsadia swept in singles for the Lightning in their Academy League opener Friday at Costas Mesa Tennis Center.

Sage Hill (3-2, 1-0 in league) swept in doubles.

FOOTBALL

University 20, Estancia 6

Estancia fell to 1-3 after losing the nonleague game Friday at Jim Scott Stadium.

The Eagles play host to Sonora Friday at 7 p.m.
