It’s not unusual to see people building sandcastles in Huntington Beach, but typically they do it on the actual beach.

On Saturday, however, teams gathered in the second block of Main Street downtown to see who could craft the best sand fortress.

Event organizer Susan Welfringer said a few tons of sand needed to be brought in for the event.
