Firefighters knocked down a fire Thursday night at Talbert Regional Park after it consumed about an acre.

The fire was reported after 9 p.m. near the BMX track, Costa Mesa fire Capt. Chris Coates said. No structure damage or injuries were reported.

“We recommend if someone sees smoke out there [at Talbert Park] to call us immediately so we can get a handle on it,” Coates said.

The fire was out within 45 minutes of firefighters’ arrival, Coates said. An Orange County Fire Authority helicopter made water drops, and Orange County hand crews and Newport Beach and Huntington Beach firefighters assisted.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
