High School Boys’ Basketball Roundup: Burzell leads Laguna Beach to Grizzly Invitational semifinals

Laguna Beach High senior guard Blake Burzell produced 22 points to lead the boys’ basketball team to a 55-54 win over El Toro in the quarterfinals of the Grizzly Invitational at Godinez High on Thursday.

The Breakers (3-0) play Newport Harbor (3-0) in the semifinals at Godinez on Friday at 6:15 p.m. The winner advances to the championship game on Saturday.

Laguna Beach’s Charlie Rounaghi had 13 points.

Costa Mesa 77, Loara 70

Junior guard Nico Dasca’s 26 points led the Mustangs to their first win of the season, coming in the Los Amigos Tournament at Loara High on Thursday.

Osman Hefner had 17 points for Costa Mesa (1-3), and Ethan Elliott added 10 points.

The Mustangs resume tournament play against Santiago on Friday at 7:45 p.m.

Marina 64, Peninsula 62, OT

Junior forward Jakob Alamudun finished with 24 points for the Vikings (3-1) in the Jim Harris Classic at Ocean View High on Thursday.

ThunderRidge 86, Pacifica Christian Orange County 37

The Tritons fell to 1-3 in the Jim Harris Classic at Ocean View High on Thursday.

Western 56, Estancia 41

The Eagles (4-3) dropped their second straight game in the Los Amigos Tournament on Thursday.
