The Pageant of the Masters, Laguna Beach’s annual presentation of “living pictures,” started a weekend of casting calls Friday night for people wanting to be in next summer’s show, “Under the Sun.”

Hundreds of hopefuls from Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange counties arrived at the pageant’s home, the Irvine Bowl at the Festival of Arts grounds, to be measured and photographed for possible roles, meet the pageant staff and be offered light refreshments.

The pageant is looking for volunteer cast members of all sizes and ages to pose in re-creations of famed artworks. The only requirement is the ability to be still for 90 seconds.

About 400 to 450 people will receive callbacks for additional assessment.

Volunteers also are needed to help with makeup, wardrobe and refreshments.

All prospects take part in the casting call process, which continues through Sunday.

“Under the Sun” will run from July 7 to Sept. 1. Tickets are $15 to $240.
