Food Gardening

Horticulturist Steve Hampson, “edible gardener extraordinaire” and plant buyer at Roger’s Gardens, will speak at the general meeting of the Laguna Beach Garden Club at 10:30 a.m. at the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive. He will discuss what, where and when to plant, prune and harvest, along with personal tips and tricks for everything edible in the garden, including soil preparation, using homemade compost, dormant fruit tree spray treatments, and new vegetable varieties. Festival of Arts ‘Preview 2011’

IRS-trained volunteers are available from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. to provide free basic tax assistance to those with middle to low income and with simple tax returns. The Marine Room, 214 Ocean Ave., is hosting Pet Place International’s inaugural Rockin’ Dog Rescue and Fundraiser at 7 p.m. Animals will be available for adoption during the event, which also feature raffles, vendors and give-aways.
