West Coast Artists

“Contemporary Traditionalists: A West Coast Perspective,” a show featuring 48 works by 18 South Orange County artists, runs at the Huntington Beach Art Center, 538 Main St. Among the artists on display are Scott Albert, Paul Cheng, Susan Jarecky, Casey Parlette and Bradford J. Salamon. There is an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. May 19 and regular gallery hours are noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 6 p.m. Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. Fountain Valley Summerfest

Fountain Valley hosts its annual Summerfest at the Fountain Valley Sports Park, 16400 Brookhurst St. The festival includes live music, carnival rides, arts and crafts, a beer and wine garden and vendor booths, with a classic car and truck show on Saturday. Thursday night is preview night, with all rides $1 and six gourmet food trucks. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday (car and truck show from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Classic Cars and Trucks

The annual Fountain Valley Classic Car & Truck Show takes place at the Fountain Valley Sports Park, 16400 Brookhurst St. The event features pre-1983 cars and trucks are on display along with vendor booths, raffle prizes and a pancake breakfast served by the Kiwanis Club. Grounds open at 7 a.m., with breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30, food booths opening at 11 and an awards ceremony at 2 p.m., with the show ending at 3. Admission is free. Movie Music Show

The Huntington Beach Symphony Orchestra presents “Music from Movies We Love,” a concert featuring melodies from “My Fair Lady,” “Star Wars,” “Jaws” and other films, at the Huntington Beach Central Library Theater, 7111 Talbert Ave. The Huntington Beach Children’s Chorus also performs songs from “Oliver!”, “Sister Act” and “The Sound of Music.” The show begins at 3 p.m. and tickets are $20 presale, $25 at the door and $18 for seniors and students. ‘The Art of Chocolate’

The Huntington Beach Art Center hosts “The Art of Chocolate,” in which local vendors demonstrate and offer samples of chocolate-based creations, at 538 Main St. Among those represented are Bocconi Cakes, Bonert’s Slice of Pie, Eveline’s Elegant Events, For Goodness Cakes and Nothing Bundt Cakes. The event lasts from 2 to 5 p.m. and admission is $25 for Art Center members, $35 general admission and $50 for VIP seating. Father’s Day Car Show

The Public Church hosts a Father’s Day car show featuring hot rods and custom vehicles at Huntington Beach Baptist Church, 8121 Ellis Ave., Huntington Beach.
