Trend Watch: SHŌNA jewelry trunk show comes to Neiman Marcus

Shona C. Gilbert, an artistic couture jewelry designer, is bringing her designs via a trunk show to Neiman Marcus at Fashion Island on Dec. 14-15.

Her handmade line, SHONA, features glass-beaded bracelets, tourmaline gemstones and vintage stones, according to a news release.

There's the Gorgeous Doll Choker Necklace, the Bracelets St. Germain — a mix of pink and gold blush metal beads, with vintage Chanel beads — or the 1937 Vintage Collar.

A puppet show for adults

Warning: These puppets aren't kid-friendly.

"Henson Alternative: Stuffed and Unstrung," deemed a puppet show for adults, comes to the Irvine Barclay Theatre from Dec. 28 through Dec. 31.

No two performances are alike, according to a news release. Patrick Bristow hosts the show, and six puppeteers feed off the audience for fodder.

Tickets cost $38 to $45. No minors are allowed. A special New Year's Eve show will take place at 7 p.m. with a live telecast from New York's Times Square to countdown to midnight (East Coast time) with the Muppets.

'Addams Family' comes to Segerstrom

Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsly and Uncle Fester will take the stage at the Segerstrom Center's Kids' Night on Broadway during two performances of the "Addams Family" on Dec. 18 and 19.

Kids' Night on Broadway introduces youth to the "magic of theater and makes Broadway accessible to all families," a press release said.

Children ages 6 to 18 will be admitted free with every full-priced adult ticket purchased for the show with the promo code: KIDS. Tickets start at $20.

The "Addams Family musical" is a take on the kooky family series created by cartoonist Charles Addams.

Irish rock at Muldoon's this weekend

The famed Celtic band the Young Dubliners will be back at Muldoon's Irish Pub from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The Young Dubs, as they are called by fans, is an American band that mixes Irish sounds and modern rock.

Hanukkah celebration at Fashion Island

Adam Sandler put it best: "Put on your yarmulke, it's time for Hanukkah."

Chabad Jewish Center and Fashion Island are hosting a public Menorah lighting ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday in Fashion Island's Atrium Garden Court near Barnes & Noble.

The event kicks off with a performance by "The Locos!" and then a musical performance by a group of young special needs teens from the Friendship Circle, with the lighting of the Noah's Ark Menorah afterward, according to a news release.

Other activities include gifts, treats, Hanukkah crafts, face painting and balloon animals. Bring a toy to donate as a gift for underprivileged children.

Snow coming to Balearic Community Park

Holiday Snow Land hits Cosa Mesa with 40 tons of snow blanketing Costa Mesa's Balearic Community Park from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Santa will be on hand and you'll be able to take free rides in his sleigh with reindeer. Games and food will also be available.

The event is free, and sales from food will be donated to local schools.

Art and boutique show this weekend

Last-minute shopping? Check out the Huntington Beach Downtown Business Improvement District's art and boutique art show from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 19. at the local Art Center, 538 Main St.

Fine art, jewelry, crafts and entertainment will be on hand at the event and of course, the big guy himself, Santa, will stop by from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Last weekend for Winter Fantasy

Sawdust Art Festival's Winter Fantasy closes out this weekend, and there will be plenty of fun there.

In addition to unique art and gifts on sale, there will be Fireside Carolers, Balloon Diva, Santa Claus, El Morro Honors Chorus, Graham Robby's country music and Matt Quilter's surf music on Saturday and Sunday.

Don't forget to check out the art classes, where attendees can make fingerprint cards, pine cone trees and snowman socks. Classes are inexpensive and some are for all ages.

The festival will also wrap up its Toys for Tots drive, with those donating a toy valued at $5 or more receiving free one-day admission to Winter Fantasy.
