Film society hosts documentary screening

The Laguna Beach Film Society launches its second Ocean Awareness film documentary with Emmy Award recipient Jason Krumb’s new film, “TransparentSeas.”

The showing will be hosted at 7 p.m. Friday at the Forum Theatre in the Festival of Arts grounds at 650 Laguna Canyon Road.

The film highlights the journey of a group of surfer activists and musicians who produce music as a means of raising awareness about the ocean.

My Hero Project presents film showcase

The My Hero Project presents an “Environmental Film Showcase” from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday in the Multi-purpose Room at the Laguna Beach Community and Susi Q Center, 380 Third St. The event, which is free, will include short films featuring environmental activists such as Sylvia Earle in “A Tribute to Sylvia Earle,” Olivia Bouler in “Olivia’s Birds and the Oil Spill” and Ikal Angelei in “Home to Turkana.”

This event was organized with help from the Massen Greene Foundation, as well as the Laguna Beach Community Foundation.
