Community Animal Network received repeated calls and several cell phone photos from business center employees who walk to Fashion Island for lunch about a white-and-black spotted kitty in the birds of paradise flowerbed near the R+D Kitchen parking lot.

Witnesses said the kitten chattered with passersby and was seen in the same flowerbed day after day rolling on his back and wiggling with his legs as if performing to earn a meal. He retreated when approached.

Network founder DiAnna Pfaff-Martin circulated fliers in an effort to find temporary housing for the cat she appropriately named Jolly. The Davies family and their two Huskies have opened their home to save a local cat in need.

The organization’s humane animal trapper spent several late nights trying to trap the well-fed kitty with no success. Pfaff-Martin contacted the concerned callers and asked them not to feed the cat so he could more easily be rescued.

Upon rescue, Jolly was scanned for a microchip and driven to the vet. He weathered the outdoors pretty well with just a few scabs and scars around his face and neck. His caregiver says, “He is just the biggest ham! The person who adopts this cat will be rewarded beyond expectations because of the love this cat has to give.”
