Pet of the Week

Shelter life was hard on Wilson, as it is for many dogs with a lot of energy and a long time being confined.

Newport Beach Animal Control Officer Valerie Schomburg rescued the black and white dog from the shelter after he spent seven months at the Orange County Humane Society.

Wilson has been staying with Kind To Canines Dog Training in Newport Beach since his rescue and has learned his commands and walks on a leash well. He doesn’t bark at the kennel and is not too rambunctious.

He is well-behaved around children and other dogs, but he still has a youthful exuberance and loves his tennis balls. It’s no coincidence that his name is Wilson!

His trainer Dan will be providing additional free training to help Wilson make a good transition into his new home.

On Sunday, Wilson will be at the Fashion Island pet adoption event sponsored by Russo’s Pet Experience from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
