Befitting his Irish name, Aron wore green when he greeted City Council members on St. Patrick's Day. His effort to gain attention is a reminder that black cats (and dogs) have difficulty being noticed and, more importantly, getting adopted.
Harder to see in cages and photographs, black animals are often overlooked. In fact, Aron has been waiting since October to find a home.
This healthy 3-year-old domestic shorthair arrived as a stray and is now one of 10 black cats residing in the shelter. Although he may look ordinary, what sets Aron apart is his extraordinarily mellow temperament. He appears unfazed by other cats, human activity and even dogs in the shelter environment. So happy to be held that he remains motionless, resembling a soft, furry toy.
Aron's adoption fees are discounted 25% all week when you mention this announcement. For more information, call (714) 536-8480 or visit http://www.ochumanesociety.com.
