Last year’s books aren’t officially closed just yet, but Costa Mesa City Council members will take a look at the city’s financial picture during a study session Tuesday.

The meeting will include a presentation on the latest available preliminary figures on how the city did financially during the 2018-19 fiscal year, which ended June 30, as well as a look at how things are shaping up so far this fiscal year.

Council members also will discuss the status of some projects and hires that were put off during the last budget discussion in June, which included several requests from the Costa Mesa Police Department.

Tuesday’s meeting starts at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 77 Fair Drive.
