Laguna hospitality is alight on its annual night

Laguna Beach heard sleigh bells jingling Friday night as revelers descended on the city’s Peppertree Lot, where Hospitality Night kicked off the local holiday season.

It was lovely weather for Mayor Bob Whalen to take a sleigh ride together with Santa Claus, who heard the wishes of children and greeted guests with cheer.

The parking lot between Ocean and Forest avenues was bustling with activity as music filled the air, courtesy of Laguna Beach Unified School District bands and choirs, the Laguna Community Concert Band and local band the Farm.

Other festivities included a tree-lighting ceremony, a sing-a-long, cookie decorating, arts and crafts and letter writing to troops. Downtown merchants and local nonprofits provided other activities, open houses and entertainment.

Hospitality Night is an annual event co-sponsored by the city and the Chamber of Commerce.
