AYOS Region 97: Breakers keep it going

The Newport Beach Breakers, a Gold Division under-10 all-star girls soccer team from Region 97, defeated South Irvine and North Irvine to

extend their run in the Area Q playoffs.

In their first game, the Breakers beat South Irvine, 4-1. Elizabeth

Eddy scored two goals and Brianna Schwartz and Kasey DeYoung each added

one.

Terra Friedman and Marianne Jones dominated defensively.

Against North Irvine, the Breakers came away with a 2-1 victory. Kelly Heenan scored early to give the Breakers a 1-0 halftime lead.

North Irvine answered with a goal to tie the score, but Eddy slipped a

pass to Schwartz who found the net to put the Breakers ahead for good.

Courtney Francis was solid in the net and Tina Theriot, McKenna Cottam

and Caroline Hardenbergh controlled the midfield for the Breakers

(17-1-1).
