Laguna resident Ann Coad died Sept. 29. She was 91.

Ms. Coad was in the Marine Corps during World War II. She attained

the rank of captain. She also taught school and worked at home as an

economist.

Her ashes were scattered at sea.

She is survived by her brothers Eugene and Jim; and nephews Paul,

Sean, Tom and John.

George Griffith

George S. Griffith, of Laguna Beach, died Nov. 1 after surgery for

a broken hip. He was 92.

Mr. Griffith was born in Lawrence, Kan. His family moved to Laguna

Beach, where he grew up. In his youth, he worked as the first of two

paid lifeguards in Laguna Beach. Later, he actively worked to

preserve the Laguna Art Museum.

Mr. Griffith will be survived by his wife, Katherine; and three

children, Elizabeth Sanders, William A Griffith II and Susan

Nachtrab.
