Air Force Airman Anthony J. Verrecchia graduated...

Air Force Airman Anthony J. Verrecchia graduated from basic military

training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Verrecchia, a 2002 graduate of Marina High School, completed six

weeks of training, where he studied the Air Force mission,

organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and

ceremony marches; received physical training, rifle marksmanship,

field training exercises; and special training in human relations.

Upon completion of basic training, Verrecchia also earned credits

toward an associate’s degree through the Community College of the Air

Force. Verrecchia is the son of Huntington Beach resident Patricia

Verrecchia ... Librarian Lia Hernandez received the Mayor’s Award at

a City Council meeting on Oct. 18. Hernandez was selected as the

recipient because of her dedication to the Huntington Beach Central

Library’s Young Adult program.
