Fire Safe Council holds planning meetings

The Greater Laguna Coast Fire Safe Council invites residents to attend one of two initial meetings on Saturday, June 24, and Thursday, June 29, to gather community input for developing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan.

Carole Zavala, former director of Orange County Head Start, will moderate the meetings.

The June 24 meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Council Chambers of Laguna Beach City Hall, 505 Forest Ave. The June 29 meeting will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the community room at South Coast Medical Center, 31872 Coast Highway.

A grant for developing a Laguna region-specific Community Wildfire Protection Plan was awarded to the Laguna Fire Safe Council by the California Fire Safe Council with funds from the Bureau of Land Management.

Partners in the collaborative effort to produce a local Community Wildfire Protection Plan are the Laguna Beach Fire Department, the Orange County Fire Authority, Laguna Beach County Water District and the Emerald Bay Community Assn.
