Girls under 14

Costa Mesa Code Red 6, Newport Beach 0: Brooke Wanbaugh scored twice for Code Red, with Vanessa Corona, Amanda Wilson, Sarah Bramlett and Jade Gonzales all adding goals. Midfielders Adriana Gutierrez-Campos, Alexa Smith, Jenny Nava, Sydney Caffey and Hayley Smith also played well, along with forward Selina Grant and defenders Jillian Tanner and Jessica Oseguera.

Girls under 11 (Advanced Play Program)

Huntington Beach 2, Costa Mesa 0: Mesa suffered its first loss of the season despite a great offensive effort by Christina Tuer, Gracie Diamond and Ana Vivanco. Midfielders Jackie Hubbard, Alba Marie Barrios and Emily Grady displayed impressive passes, and Emily Gruber, Amy Heil, Claudia Huerta and Marlene Calderon anchored a stellar defense. Goalie Jayme Krohnfeldt also played well.

Girls under 6

Purple Puppies vs. Green Machine: Lilli Rask led the way for the Purple Puppies. Allison O’Heany didn’t stop running all game for the Puppies. Kelsey Bond had great passes and played tough defense and Sofia Palma advanced the ball well.

Boys under 6

Tigers vs. Green Gators: Nathan Hayes scored two goals for the Tigers while Nicholas Vargo, Jonathon Suarez, Nathan Guyot and Kevin Johnson had several steals and assists. Ethan McHenry and Michael Lara excelled on defense for the Tigers.

Girls under 14

Breakers vs. Vipers: The Vipers got the win, coming back from a 2-0 deficit. For the Breakers, forward Sydney Clayton and midfielder Bridget Lyons scored the game’s first two goals, assisted by Shannon Wagner and Robin Young. Breakers defenders Lauren Bartolic, Maddie Shepherd and Alex Chandler all played well, as did midfielders Andie Ward, Audrey Bruscia, Jordin Eakin and Madison Murphy.

Girls under 12 (APP)

Newport Breakers 1, Rancho Santa Margarita 0: Kelsey Long scored the game’s only goal for Newport, assisted by a long pass from Mollie Friend. Goalies Layne More, Katherine Maddox and Kirsten Rohan helped preserve the shutout.

Double Bubble 0, Mighty Plums 0: Double Bubble was led by Kailen Locke; Lauren Halle; Sara Bradbury; Medley Andrade; Michelle Brookes; Sydney Elliott-Brand; Breyanna Komadina; Ellyssa Barnett; Alex Palmer; Brittany Walker; Carly Strutner; Lauren Yee; Dana Siegel; Megan Daly and Katie Gaitan.

Girls under 11 (APP)

Cherry Bombs: Lea Phillips, Kendall Lindsay and Nikki Walsh were strong offensive threats. Makayla Swies scored a goal, Katelyn Mead and Kathryn De La Torre made strong defensive plays and Nicole Fitzsimmons played well as goalie.

Girls under 10

Flaming Hot Cheetos 3, Red Angels 0: The Cheetos scored all three goals in the first quarter. For the Red Angels, goalie Katie Kearns and defensive players Caylee Talbot, Hannah Tucker, Katie Conway and Kierstyn Yardley kept the Angels’ spirits up in the second half. Also playing well for the Angels were Rachel Whitelegge, Grace Muenchow, Delaney Gastineau, Lauren Bibb, Courtney Cunningham and Kristin Wantanbe.

Teal Seals 4, Pink Panthers 3: Katya Farinski and Noelle Hubbard scored first-half goals for the Panthers, with nice passes from Hannah Doolin, Marina Knutsen, Isabel Leveque, Lauren Loucks and Kate Yasko. In the second half, defenders Julianna Eifler, Emily Halphide, Hannah Sanders, Elle Zielinski and goalie Olivia Jones all played well.

Blue Army Angels 5, Gator Girls 2: Caroline Gels scored two first-quarter goals for the Angels, Hannah Joyce scored in the second quarter and Kristin Kiehnle scored twice late in the game. Chelsea Baker also had several nice attempts for the Angels, who received great defense from Brook Hinton, Claire Olmstead, Peyton Groves, Mariana Debarros and goalies Livia Yoho, Paige Fults and Sam Ludes.

Boys under 10

Orange Day vs. M&M; Dudes: Alejandro Solis scored two goals for Orange Day, and Connor Lindenstadt and John Wills added goals. P.J. Boyd played stellar defense, and Ryan Standt, Alex Borlin and Joel Mendez also contributed for the winners.

Stingrays vs. Lemonheads: Julien Marchese scored a first-half goal for the Stingrays, and defenders Ezra Salgado and Alden Burke were able to contain the Lemonheads’ attackers. Midfielders Hunter White, Sargis Srapyan and Zach McKay, along with sweeper Quinn McKay and stopper Elijah Chavis, got the ball up the field to Ryan Young and Marchese, who scored his second goal late in the game.

Water Bombs: Defenders Jax Wood, August Rice and Jonathan Purcell led the Water Bombs, with additional support coming from Cody Wildman and Tony Vasi. The team scored three goals in the second half, with outstanding teamwork from Cole Brockhoff, Graydon Kimme, Micah Adelsohn and Sawyer Farmer.

Girls under 8

Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. Banana Splits: The Peppers’ Julie Doyle scored twice in the first quarter. In the second quarter, good passing from Alyssa Wilkens and Rayna Richardson moved the ball up the field, and Erica Ellis scored. Heather Roberts made a nice pass to Julia Ackerman for a third-quarter Peppers goal. Desty Comp and Lauren Henke also played strong defense the first three quarters before moving to forward in the fourth quarter.

Boys under 8

Irish Bulldogs vs. Red Raptors: Bulldogs goalie Chandler Siemonsma and defenders Zach Durham, A.J. Roth, Fara Lependu and Colin Avary helped keep the game scoreless in the first half. Offensive players Cameron Fournier, Alex Davis, Jack McClintock, Tom Phillips and Roth also played well. In the second half, Siemonsma and McClintock scored goals and the Bulldogs won.

Girls under 7

Newborn Puppies: Skylar Alexander and Kailyn Kramer both scored goals for the Puppies, and Holly Nance, Rylee Warmington and Alexander were aggressive on defense. Jordan Golden showed speed and determination, and Miranda McCormick and Saylor Nedelman were fearless goalies and keys to the defense. Tristen Warmington also shined, making some key plays.

Boys under 7

Firebirds vs. Mini Manchester United: Firebirds goalie Luc Levine made some stellar saves, and Colin Ensminger and John Rankin used some fancy footwork for the team. Lucas Mowery showed quick movements and precise passes, while Peter Emmel and Cade Kassouf played strong defense. Jake Bashore, Jack Pitchess and AJ Stefano, with the help of their teammates, drove the ball downfield to score goals.

Dragons vs. Blue Bulldogs: The Dragons’ stifling defense was led by goalies Casey Nelson and Mason McPhie, as well as defenders Carter Bays, Christopher Cornell, Dominic Christiansen, Cody English, Hunter Hall and Andrew Wolfe. Goals by Jake Thomas and Vincent Rubino led the Dragons’ offense.

Gladiators: Alejandro Cruz, Nathan Medina, Tanner Casey and Dylan Davis moved the ball strongly as forwards, while Gates Johnson, Joshua Gehlke and Luke Beehler covered the midfield well. Max Lamb, Lucas Heil and Kyle Buenrostro played strongly in goal.

Fire Balls: Fernando Monroy scored on a direct kick, and Dominic Patino, Seth Roberts and Trevor Cislaw had their best game of the season. Paolo Carrillo-Weisenburger, Rory Sever, Marcus Croxson and Matthew Weiss all played very well offensively and defensively.

Boys under 6

Green Raptors, Blue Sharks: Wells Parker and Ty Markings scored goals for the Raptors, while Joshua Locke, Dominick Buscaglio, David Wynne and John Drake also contributed.

Boys under 8

Irish Bulldogs vs. Surfinators: The Irish Bulldogs earned a shutout behind nice goaltending from Fara Lependu and Chandler Siemonsma.

Defenders Jack McClintock, Colin Avary and Robbie Gehring all played well, while A.J. Roth scored two goals.

Tom Phillips, Zach Durham, Alex Davis, Cameron Fournier and Kamran Siddiqi also contributed for the Bulldogs.

Boys under 7

Dragons: Vincent Rubino recorded a hat trick, while Andrew Wolfe scored twice and Dominic Christiansen, Jake Thomas and Mason McPhie added single scores.

Goalies Hunter Hall and Christopher Cornell contributed to a stingy defense, led by Carter Bays, Casey Nelson and Cody English.

Goblins vs. Gladiators: Scott Ryder scored three goals for the Goblins, while Tommy Hanle and Matthew Carney added goals.

Defenders Roy Manwell and Cole Schneider also played well, as did Nick Halphide and Nicholas Nataupsky.

Fire Balls: Fernando Monroy and Matthew Weiss both scored, and Paolo Carrillo-Weisenburger had multiple assists.

Marcus Croxson, Rory Sever, Aidan Steinke, Trevor Cislaw and Seth Roberts also played well for the Fire Balls.

Girls under 5

Purple Flower Power vs. Teeny Wahine: Tyesha Lazcano showed fancy footwork for Purple Flower Power, and Lexi Petrie’s enthusiasm was contagious. Kate Honda and Trinity Goff provided plenty of speed for Purple Flower Power, for which Ellie Terry also sparkled.

Pink Lightning vs. The Drama Queens: Pink Lightning players Zoe Sudit, Avery Allemann and Lexy Staropoli all played very well in their very first AYSO game.

AYSO Region 57

Girls under 10

Tigers 1, Maroon Monsoon 0: Lauren Kobayashi scored the game’s only goal, assisted by Amanda Chila.

Sterling Brown stood out as the Tigers’ goalie, and midfielders Arabella Watkins, Ally Hadfield, Jessie Harris and Lauren Grable helped keep the ball in Monsoon territory.

Forwards Brooke Olson, Ally Doherty and Kaitlyn Hicks all played well for the Tigers, as did defenders Abigail Klein and Sophia Mossman.

For the Maroon Monsoon, Morgan Duss, Madeleine Francis, Isabella Solomon, Anneliese Johansson, Allison Green and Caitlin Harvey all kept constant pressure on the Tigers’ defense.

Claire Danner, Annalise Gushue, Kira Woods and Siena Sharf made numerous great defensive moves, and Juliette Bordier Johnson made several great saves as goalie.

Boys under 10

Green Blaze vs. Freedom Fighters: David Doran, Dain Woods, Cameron Hook, Gage Thomas and Hagan Truninger all scored for the Green Blaze, with assists going to Cole Thomas, Vikram Baid, Mark Tenney, Will Tenney and Roman Hays.

Boys under 8

Gladiators: James Kratzberg, Logan Naddy and Robert Drobka all scored goals in the team’s first game. Tyler Flood, Luke Seidman, Andrew Sweeney, Scott Schweitzer and Griffin Peters also played well on offense, while Trenton Rhodes blocked a shot on goal.

Team Italy vs. Blue Barracudas: Team Italy had goals from Kory Winning, Jake Pearson, J.P. Fenmore and Grant Spruce. Ryan Meckler, Grant Shaw, Layson Savant, Robert Rowe and Gray Wueste all had good midfield and defensive support.
