Flyers soar past Misfits for win

The Flyers parlayed a big second-period offensive output into the turning point of its Norris Division match against the Misfits and went on to record a 10-5 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

The Flyers outscored the Misfits, 4-1, in the second period to push their lead to 7-3.

Garrett Zolg, Levi Pompoco, Christian Pompoco and Matthew Legrand all scored two goals and Jake Gealy and John Keegan each scored once.

Zolg and Levi Pompoco each had two assists and Gealy and Christian Pompoco each had one assist.

Tyler Gealy had 16 saves.

Alexander Gomez scored the first four goals for the Misfits and Daniel Chladek closed out the scoring.

Gomez, Chladek and Robert Wirth each had an assist.

Chris Pabitzky finished with 23 saves.

In other Norris Division action:

SWAT 7, Breakers 0

SWAT rolled out to a 4-0 first-period lead and went on to win by shutout.

Braeden Stack’s three goals paced the offense, Joe Gibb scored twice and Trenton Shehan and Joshua Wagoner also found the net.

Stack, Gibb and Ryan Beardshear each had an assist and Brandon Wagoner shut down the Breakers behind 15 saves.

Corey Childers had 24 saves for the Breakers.

Lightning 5, HB Extreme 3

The Lightning outscored HB Extreme by two goals in the final period to pull out the win.

Casey Rhodes and Nicholas Thompson each finished with two goals to pace the Lightning on offense and Brett Rudy scored once. Thompson also added a pair of assists and Rudy and Brenden Crawford each had an assist.

Amanda Vongries had a goal and assist, Brayden Moore and Peter Skowron each scored and Dylan Rodriguez finished with 21 saves for HB Extreme.

HB Psychos 8, Bruins 2

Cole Kennedy posted five goals and the HB Psychos led all the way in defeating the Bruins.

Jordan Bonner, Maverick Knight and Alexander Taros also scored goals. Bonner also had four assists, Taros and Preston Alvarez two each and Bonner one.

Aaron Maccabi had 11 saves.

Casey Taylor and Joseph Loya scored for the Bruins, Ryan Matsunaga had an assist and Chris Hernandez recorded 16 saves.
