BREAKING NEWS:

Ian Westleigh Allen, 23, has been found guilty of first degree murder for stabbing to death his former girlfriend’s mother, Barbara Mullenix, in the family’s Huntington Beach condo in 2006.

The prosecution originally considered giving Allen a sentencing enhancement for personal use of a deadly weapon -- in this case, one or more knives, but declined to pursue it.

Allen faces 25 years to life in prison, and will be sentenced Nov. 14.

Rachael Scarlett Mullenix, the victim’s daughter and Allen’s 19-year-old former girlfriend, was already convicted of first degree murder for the same crime in July.
