Spring season just around the corner for Breakers

The Laguna Beach High baseball team will taste competition for the first time in the 2009 season Saturday when the Breakers play in a three-way scrimmage at Paramount High.

The Breakers will scrimmage Paramount and Long Beach Poly. They will play games at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Laguna’s JV team will also scrimmage Paramount and Poly. Both of those games begin at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at home.

Laguna officially launches its season March 6 at the Newport Elks Tournament.

The regular season schedule begins next week for the boys’ golf, boys’ tennis, boys’ volleyball, swimming and track and field programs.

On Tuesday, the boys’ golf team will tee up against Aliso Niguel at 2:30 p.m. at Aliso Viejo Golf Course, the boys’ tennis team hosts Irvine at 3 p.m. and the boys’ volleyball team plays a 6 p.m. match at Edison.

The swim team begins its season Wednesday with a meet at El Modena. On Thursday, the track and field team opens with a 3 p.m. home meet against La Sierra.
