Edwin F. Steen Jr. May 20, 1924 - Aug. 11, 2010

Edwin F. Steen Jr.,  86, passed away Aug. 11.  Born in San Francisco May 20, 1924, he lived on Balboa Island and in Corona del Mar for the past 55 years. As an avid yachtsman, golfer and RVer he served as president of the Balboa Island Homeowners Assn., commodor of the Balboa Yacht Club, president and director of the CA Pacers RV Club, president and director of La Quinta's Homeowners Assn., and golfed at Newport Beach Country Club and La Quinta Country Club.  He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corp. in World War II and graduated from UCLA in 1948.  In 1955 he started a career in real estate and land development during which he co-founded Standard-Pacific Corp, a major residential building company.

He was a remarkable and loving family man and will be truly missed. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth; daughter, Lori; son, Edwin III; and grandchildren, Edwin IV, Amy and Terry; and two great-granddaughters. A memorial will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Balboa Yacht Club in Corona del Mar.
