Gary Dean Sherrow, 70, of Corona del Mar, passed away Sept. 14, 2010. Gary was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Billings, Mont..

His childhood years were spent in Iowa and finally he settled in Phoenix, where he spent his teen years and then graduated from Arizona State University, earning an MBA.

Gary was an avid classic car collector and enthusiast, he loved fine wines and food, sailing and the Lord Jesus Christ.

He was a career home builder and major commercial contractor. Gary was a member of Sigma Lambda Chi Fraternity, served in the U.S. Air Force, was a longtime member of the Balboa Bay Club and Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, as well as many charitable organizations.

Gary was enthusiastically involved in the local yachting community and competed in many local boating events and most recently won the Sweepstakes Award displaying his patriotism in the Newport Beach Old Glory Boat Parade 2010, with Champagne Lady.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Jo, children Pamela J. Busiek and Perry Moore Jr., grandchildren Jamie Jo Hayes and Clay Moore, his brother Robert Sherrow of Phoenix, and children James Sherrow, Andrea Downard, Pamela Fazio and grandchildren all of Phoenix. His beloved pet pals Nicholas and Dickens will miss him greatly.

Gary was known for his stylish dress, joyful personality, being a mentor and good friend to many, his constant smile, and his strong Christian values.

A funeral gathering is planned for family and friends at 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at 2010 Pacific View Memorial Park, Corona del Mar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
