Our dear daughter and sister, Helena Alice Fay Stanbridge, passed away on December 6th, 2010. Helena was born on April 7th, 1974 in Redwood City, California. Despite Helena’s lifelong pain, she lived a life full of excitement, curiosity, compassion and intellectual intrigue. Helena constantly supplied her friends and family with love and compassion. Before and after her graduation summa cum laude from the University of Arizona in 2005 she was a devoted teacher of preschool children and gave them a loving attention that some of them had not previously experienced. Her life has always been one of working to enhance the lives of the disadvantaged. In more recent times she was a volunteer for the ACLU and a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused children.

Helena’s love for all living beings transcended humans. Her deep love of nature was best exemplified by the joy of gardening shared with her mother, Polly, hiking with the friends and family that she adored, traveling the world, studying indigenous cultures and her deep loving relationship with her loyal dog, Emma.

During her short life Helena gave far more than she received. She will be deeply missed by all who benefited from her smiling, humor-filled, loving, caring persona. She will always be in our hearts and minds.
