Pribram to speak at Exchange Club

James Pribram, environmentalist, surfer and Coastline Pilot columnist, will appear at the next meeting of the Laguna Exchange Club, 12:15 p.m. Thursday at Watermarc Restaurant, 448 S. Coast Hwy.

Pribram will describe his trips in 2010 to the site of the BP oil platform disaster and to the mid-Atlantic gyre, where floating plastics have created a growing environmental problem. Pribram will be honored as athlete of the year in the Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade on March 5. He is also the proprietor of the Aloha School of Surfing.

Culinary Arts to host ‘Taste’ event

Laguna Culinary Arts will present “A Taste of California” from 6 to 8:30 pm. March 10. The event will feature 20 premium wine producers representing the major wine growing regions across the state, plus the cuisine of Executive Chef Laurent Brazier and the modern gypsy music of Emilio Castillo.

Brazier has created a special tasting menu including: mini crab cakes, Campari tomato pizza with basil-pistachio pesto, smoked salmon canapés with lemon zest butter, Kobe beef sliders, cheeses, fruit compote, dried fruit, nuts and baguette, mini dark chocolate and lemon meringue tarts.
