A Laguna Beach man who was killed in a biking accident Saturday in Malibu has been identified.

Robert Eugene Hyndman, 51, lost control of his bike while on a curve of Las Flores Canyon Road, about 1 mile north Hume Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

He was thrown head-first over his bicycle's handlebars and suffered head injuries. He was wearing a helmet, authorities said, but the helmet cracked upon impact.

The road has many sharp curves and is challenging for even experienced riders, according to the CHP.

According to his Facebook, Hyndman was a copywriter and brand strategist. Friends of Hyndman are organizing a Facebook event and ride in his honor on Nov. 13, near the site of the accident.

The ride will begin at 9 a.m. in Santa Monica at Bike Effect at 910 Broadway.
