High School Roundup: Newport Harbor field hockey falls to Harvard-Westlake in Tournament of Champions final

The Newport Harbor High field hockey team lost 5-0 to Studio City Harvard-Westlake on Saturday in the Tournament of Champions title game at West Hills Chaminade High.

Harvard-Westlake won its third straight Tournament of Champions title. The Wolverines built a 3-0 lead in the first 15 minutes against Newport Harbor, which was in the title match for the first time since 2017.

Junior goalkeeper Cadence Cockrell had seven saves for the Sailors, who finished the season 16-8.

“I am so proud of the growth that this team made through this season,” Newport Harbor coach Amanda Boyer said in a text message.

Edison 1, Huntington Beach 1: The Chargers won 3-1 on penalty strokes in the third-place game of the Tournament of Champions on Saturday at West Hills Chaminade High.

Brooke Johnson scored for Edison (14-5-1), while Taylor Gates had a goal for Huntington Beach (20-4-3).
