Memorial service for Altobelli family to be held Monday at Angel Stadium

A celebration of life for the three members of the Altobelli family who died in the Jan. 26 helicopter crash in Calabasas will be held Monday at Angel Stadium.

Doors for the public memorial service will open at 3 p.m., with the ceremony to start at 4 p.m.

Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, 56, his wife, Keri, 46, and his daughter, Alyssa, 14, were among nine killed in the crash that also claimed former NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, 41, and his daughter, Gianna, 13. Altobelli was set to begin his 28th season as head baseball coach with the Pirates, with whom he won four state titles, including last year.

Admission is free for Monday’s ceremony, and free parking will also be available in the Angel Stadium lots off State College and Orangewood Avenue. The public can enter through the home plate gate.

In lieu of donations, people are encouraged to donate to the Altobelli fund at GoFundMe and the Orange Coast College Altobelli Memorial Family Fund.
