Biz News: Hoag Hospital called one of the 50 best in the U.S.

Healthgrades recently named Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for 2018.

This is the seventh consecutive year Hoag has received the designation, according to a news release.

“We are honored to be recognized by Healthgrades as one of the top hospitals in the nation for clinical excellence,” Robert T. Braithwaite, president and CEO of Hoag, said in a statement. “This award underscores our commitment to providing the highest-quality care in the communities we serve.”

Women’s leadership panel coming to Center Club

Laguna’s Code Green acquires apparel company

Laguna Beach-based Code Green Apparel Corp. has acquired Dallas-based Designer Apparel Corp.

Designer Apparel founder Steve Short is joining Code Green as vice president of sales and marketing.

Code Green intends to operate Designer Apparel as a wholly owned division and to develop and market apparel products under both Code Green and Designer Apparel.

RYU opens at Fashion Island

Vancouver-based RYU Apparel Inc. has opened a second California location at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

“We are incredibly lucky to have been awarded a storefront in this coveted location,” RYU CEO Marcello Leone said in a statement. “Newport Beach and the Orange County area are world famous for embodying the vibrant, healthy and athletically minded Southern California lifestyle.”

Seven Gables merges with Star Real Estate

Star Real Estate, which has offices in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach, is merging with Seven Gables, a real estate brokerage firm. Star Real Estate will rebrand under the operation of Seven Gables Real Estate, according to a news release.

The combined, family owned companies will have nearly 500 associates.

Leading Edge CEO buys company

Leading Edge Avionics, based at John Wayne Airport, has been acquired by its chief executive, Kathryn Brewer.

Brewer plans to give an ownership stake to employees later this year, according to a news release.

The company, founded in 1970 as Western Avionics, had been owned by Mike Manclark, who plans to restore old aircraft and focus on philanthropy.

SaveDaily names new CEO

SaveDaily, a Costa-Mesa based business with a focus on paperless brokerage solutions, recently named Stan Smith as the company chief executive.

Smith has more than 17 years of experience as a senior financial services executive. He last served as vice president and senior relationships manager at Fidelity Investments.

‘Flip or Flop’ star joins Newport real estate firm

Christina El Moussa of HGTV’s “Flip or Flop” has joined First Team/Christie’s International Real Estate.

The Orange County Register reported that Robin Milonakis, president of the Newport Beach office, called El Moussa “the perfect fit with her wealth of knowledge, unshakable drive, positive energy and chill vibe.”

H.B. juice store hosts re-opening

A Juice It Up! location is celebrating its re-opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 10 at 7171 Warner Ave., Suite A, Huntington Beach.

The event will include half-off smoothies, family activities and prize giveaways.
