Segerstrom Center revelers welcome Chinese New Year

A crowd at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ Julianne and George Argyros Plaza rang in the Year of the Dog during an event Saturday celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Held ahead of the start of the new year next Friday, the free event in Costa Mesa included traditional foods, Chinese folk dancing, a tai chi demonstration and a musical performance by the Lotus Bud Guzheng Ensemble of Irvine.

Also on Saturday, the Pacific Symphony presented a Chinese New Year concert in the nearby Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, featuring an array of cultural music and dance performances.
