Which designs will make Huntington Beach trash bins more artistic? You can help decide

Share

As part of an ongoing mission to help beautify the city, the Huntington Beach Public Art Alliance is asking the public to vote on artwork that will adorn 30 trash bins in the downtown area.

The alliance chose 60 designs from submissions by more than 80 artists that voters can choose from until July 28. Entries include surfing dogs, a tiki and dolphins.

For the record:

12:29 p.m. May 9, 2024The painted trash bins will be displayed on the Huntington Beach Pier on Oct. 8. The original version of this article implied incorrectly that they also would be displayed on the pier before then.

The trash bins will be painted and then paraded down Main Street on Oct. 7 and displayed on the Huntington Beach Pier on Oct. 8.

This is the second art competition the alliance has held. In May, a formerly weather-beaten utility box on the pier was decorated with artwork evoking the city’s seaside culture. The work was chosen by the public out of 10 pieces submitted by Huntington Beach High School art students.
