A Costa Mesa man was arrested Saturday after a seven-hour standoff with police, authorities said.

Costa Mesa police responded to an apartment in the 1800 block of Anaheim Avenue at about 1:40 p.m. after receiving a call about an altercation between a man and a female acquaintance, said police spokeswoman Roxi Fyad.

Officers tried to talk with the man but were blocked by his girlfriend, Fyad said. Brynn Holland, 36, of Costa Mesa was arrested on suspicion of obstruction, Fyad said.

The man, who was alone in the apartment, refused to leave, and after more than an hour of negotiations, authorities called in a SWAT team. A Huntington Beach police helicopter crew and the Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue Department assisted.

At about 8:30 p.m., the man surrendered, police said. Steven Krebbs, 38, was arrested on suspicion of criminal threats and assault with a deadly weapon, Fyad said.

A search warrant was served for the apartment, and police seized multiple firearms, Fyad said.

Krebbs was released from Orange County Jail on Sunday after posting bond, according to jail records.
