2 injured in Huntington Beach crash; DUI suspect arrested

Two people were hurt in a single-vehicle crash Thursday night in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, police said.

A Huntington Beach man was arrested in connection with a crash that sent him and a passenger to a hospital after their vehicle hit a traffic signal, police said.

Edgar Torres, 23, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs resulting in a collision causing injury and on suspicion of hit and run, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department arrest log.

Officers responded just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Beach Boulevard, police said Friday.

The driver suffered facial injuries, police said. He and the passenger were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment.

Torres was booked into the Huntington Beach city jail early Friday and was later released on $100,000 bond, authorities said.
