Huntington Beach authorities are investigating what caused an attached townhouse fire that left one man dead Friday morning.

Firefighters were called at about 10 a.m. to the 1600 block of Harbour Lane in the Huntington Harbour community, according to a news release.

Crews arrived to find a man lying dead in front of the residence who appeared to have been removed from the home by a neighbor, according to the release.

Once inside the townhouse, no other victims were found.

No nearby structures were damaged, but crews evacuated those close by as precaution and encouraged people to avoid the area for the next several hours.

By 11:15 a.m., firefighters extinguished the blaze. Huntington Beach Police are investigating the cause of the fire and the fatality.
