Kids reel in fun at Fountain Valley fishing derby

Little anglers hoped for big catches Saturday at the annual kids’ fishing derby at Mile Square Regional Park.

The Fountain Valley park stocked its large northern lake with more than half a ton of catfish and trout for the free derby. Kids ages 6 to 15 competed for prizes and glory as the derby went on, rain or shine.
