Huntington Beach man arrested in fatal hit-and-run in Fountain Valley

A Huntington Beach man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in Fountain Valley that left a bicyclist dead, police said.

Fountain Valley police responded to Brookhurst Street just south of Ellis Avenue at 12:54 a.m. Wednesday when they received a report of a hit-and-run with a person lying on the roadway.

Binh Ngo, 41, of Fountain Valley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Later on Wednesday, a resident called Huntington Beach police about a red Ford Mustang that matched the description of a car police suspected was involved in the crash. Based on the tip, Huntington Beach police detained a man and Fountain Valley police interviewed him.

Justin German, 25, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. A red Mustang with damage to its front end and passenger side was towed and stored as possible evidence, police said.

German, who is listed in jail records as a bartender, was booked into Orange County Jail in Santa Ana without bail.

Fountain Valley police are continuing to investigate the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the traffic bureau at (714) 593-4481.
