Newport planning meeting to include fiscal, safety, airport and harbor issues

Share

The Newport Beach City Council will hold a wide-ranging annual planning session Monday.

The agenda includes fiscal, public safety and John Wayne Airport issues and discussions of a city general plan update and a “modern vision for the harbor.”

The general plan item will cover whether and when to do a plan update — now or after more preliminary workshops — and how to characterize the implementation success of past zoning decisions, especially in marine commercial areas.

The harbor item will look at dredging, and the next phase of the new Harbor Operations division as it begins to focus more on city code enforcement along the water. Public safety will look at upcoming fire station projects and crime trends from last year and into 2018.
