Ruth Osgood Salyer

Born on Feb. 20, 1920, Laguna Beach resident Ruth Osgood died

April 26.

Ms. Osgood was a nationally known artist. In 1964, she was the

president of the Laguna Beach Art Assn., which later became the

Laguna Art Museum.

She helped create the Art Institute of Southern California, now

called the Laguna College of Art and Design.

She was also involved with the Laguna Playhouse. She was vice

president during the change from the “old Playhouse” on Ocean Avenue

to the “new Playhouse” in the Canyon.

Her art is included in collections at many museums including the

Laguna Art Museum and private collections.

Ms. Osgood was preceded in death by her husband, William Salyer.

She is survived by her brother Jack; nephew Derek Osgood; niece

Allison Zarley and her greyhound, Jake.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Catholic Relief

Fund.

Rudy Gray Burton

Born Feb. 8, 1920, Rudy Gray Burton died from heart failure on

April 24. He was 83.

He was a retired electrical contractor with his own business in

Laguna Beach for 40 years. He was a longtime member of U.S. Coast

Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Power Squadron and the Dana Point Yacht Club.

Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

He is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Judy McMullen; and

granddaughter Kimberly Daidone.

Alison Logan Lorimore

Alison Logan Lorimore of Laguna Beach died on April 26 at Hoag

Hospital in Newport Beach. She was 45.

Mrs. Lorimore moved to California after a career singing and

acting in operas and musical comedies in the U.S. and abroad.

She has dedicated her time and talent to the Waldorf School of

Orange County, serving on its advisory board and several committees.

She was a participant in the last CHOC Follies.

Mrs. Lorimore is survived by her husband, Alec Lorimore, a film

producer with MacGillivray Freeman Films in Laguna Beach; three young

sons, Bret, Ben and John Samuel; her mother, Laurie Logan Hudson of

Bingham Farms, Mich.; stepfather Cal Hudson; brother Jay Logan and

his wife, of Sarasota, Fla.; and nieces Hannah and Sophie.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Waldorf

School of Orange County, 2350 Canyon Road, Costa Mesa, 92627.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the

Waldorf School of Orange County Capital Campaign Fund.

Raymond Foo

Raymond Foo of Vista died April 22. He was 46.

Mr. Foo owned and operated the Garden Gate, a floral and gift shop

on Ocean Avenue. Before opening his own business he managed the

flower cart on Forest Avenue.

He is survived by his mother, Inge; and brothers Wilbur and Ronald

Foo.

A memorial service will be held in the garden at the Hotel Laguna

at 2 p.m. Sunday. After the service, a reception will be held at the

Garden Gate, 450 Ocean Ave.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Foo’s family requests that donations be

made to the American Diabetes Assn., 1570 Brookhollow Drive in Santa

The Garden Gate will remain open under the management of Randy

Hamilton and staff.
