Motions to dismiss rape charges put off

Motions to dismiss rape charges against Greg Haidl, the son of

Assistant Sheriff Don Haidl, scheduled to be heard today, were

postponed to Dec. 22.

Attorneys for Greg Haidl, who, with Kyle Nachreiner and Keith

Spann, is accused of raping an unconscious girl at Don Haidl’s Corona

del Mar home, have filed several motions, including one to dismiss

the case against their client because of “outrageous prosecutorial

misconduct.”

The judge is also expected to rule next week on whether Greg Haidl

and Nachreiner will face an enhancement of causing “great bodily

injury” to the victim by penetrating her using a pool cue. If the

judge dismisses the enhancement, the defendants, if convicted, will

likely not face a life sentence.
