Ducks shut out Spiders in playoffs

The Ducks used a strong defensive effort and 11 saves by Nick Edwards
to post a 6-0 shutout victory over the Spiders in a Norris Division
playoff game at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington
Beach.
The Ducks’ offense, meanwhile, was in high gear.
Erin Burger and Andrew Corral each scored twice to lead the
attack, while Cody Jackson and Toby Costa each scored once.
Michael Pigors led the team with three assists and Corral, Hannah
Pigors and Logan Favilla each had an assist.
In other Norris playoff games:
The Skulls 6, Wings 3
The Skulls outscored the Wings 2-0 in the third period to pull
away to victory.
Jonathan Terazis and Jordan Ford each scored two goals to pace The
Skulls.
Single goals went to Victor Salazar and Brandon Albertson.
Salazar also had two assists and Terazis and Trenton Coats each
had one.
David Stone recorded 17 saves.
Ryan Abady and Ryan Voorhies each had a goal and assist for the
Wings.
Derek Slayton also scored and Kayden Muzila and Christopher
Pichedwatana each had an assist.
Avalanche 6, Booyahs 5
The Avalanche held off a late charge by the Booyahs to win the
first-round game.
Alex Kowalski netted three goals and assisted another to lead the
Avalanche.
Nathaniel Hughes scored twice and had one assist, and Tanner Chang
completed the scoring with a goal and assist.
Levi Vanderkwaak had 16 saves.
The Booyahs’ Trevor Millikan scored his team’s final four goals to
lead all scorers and he assisted a goal by Trevor Murphy.
Murphy also had two assists and Nathan Halbur and Derek Baljeu
each had one assist.
Matthew Mahony had 19 saves.
Big Dogs 2, Panthers 1
Kevin Romano scored an unassisted goal in the third period to
break a tie and lift the Big Dogs to the win.
Ryder Epson scored off a Cole Greif assist and David Mastro
finished with 20 saves for the winners.
Evan Kurth scored off a Joseph Thielen assist and Marcus Kurth had
11 saves for the Panthers.
