Broadway parking spaces repainted

The Caltrans contractor that replaced all of the parking space markings on Broadway after repaving failed to recognize the relationship of the markings to the existing parking meters. The contractor removed and repainted the markings on Jan. 17, requiring additional lane closures on Broadway, City Manager Ken Frank said.

Improvements began Tuesday at the city’s largest wastewater lift station, located at Glenneyre and Calliope Streets, Frank announced Jan. 12.

The two primary pumps — responsible for transporting more than 2 million gallons of raw sewage a day — are 28 years old.

The two replacements weigh more than two tons and will have 150-horsepower motors with an added capability of operating while fully submerged.

A large crane will be required to deliver the motor and pump assemblies.

Both deliveries require closing the outside lane of southbound Glenneyre Street, Frank said.
