Sharks elude Predators, win 5-1

Karson Derego opened and closed the scoring for the Sharks Monday in their Smythe Division encounter with the Predators during a 5-1 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
Derego scored the Sharks’ final three goals to close with four goals overall.
Alec Lang scored the other goal, Chandler Clark had two assists and Logan Bechtold had one assist.
Caden Thompson scored off an assist from Ricky Meyer to account for the Predators’ scoring.
In other Smythe Division action:
Panthers 8, Young Americans 1
The Panthers scored the final seven goals of the match to run away from the Young Americans on Monday.
Frankie Calleros, Stuart Urbano and Aaron Dorff each scored two goals to pace the Panthers on offense. Brandon Foster and Chris Pabitzky each scored.
In the assists department, Urbano had three, Foster a pair and Dorff and Pabitzky each had one. Sam Prizler had 14 saves.
Andrew Schenker scored the only Young Americans goal, and Ethan Higbee had 23 saves.
In Norris Division action:
Lightning 9, Flyers 8
Cooper Haar ripped the nets for six goals as the Lightning edged the Flyers.
Haar’s last goal, which came with just under 11 minutes to play, gave the Lightning a two-goal advantage.
Haar also opened the scoring for his team in the first period, but his goal still left the Lightning facing a 3-1 deficit.
He would score the final five goals for the Lightning, who finally took the lead by outscoring the Flyers, 4-2, in the final period.
Casey Rhodes and Nicholas Thompson also found the net for the Lightning.
Rhodes and Deke Douty led the Lightning in assists with three apiece.
Haar and Thompson also had assists. Brett Rudy recorded 16 saves. Christian Pompoco and John Keegan each had big scoring games, netting four and three goals, respectively, to lead the Flyers on offense. Levi Pompoco also scored.
Christian Pompoco and Matthew Legrand each had a pair of assists and Levi Pompoco had one assist.
Tyler Gealy had 24 saves.
Psychos 8, Breakers 7
Jordan Bonner’s goal off a feed from Alexander Taros with a minute to play gave the Psychos some breathing room as they held off the Breakers in another tight match.
Bonner’s goal gave the Psychos an 8-6 lead. Cole Pavlik scored with 33 seconds remaining to draw the Breakers within a goal, but they could get no closer.
Taros led the Psychos in scoring with three goals followed by Bonner and Brent Rivera, who each scored twice. Cole Kennedy also scored.
Bonner also topped the team in assists with three.
Aaron Maccabi had 21 saves.
Colin Douglass paced the Breakers on offense with three goals and two assists. Pavlik finished with two goals to go along with two assists and Nolan Strout scored once with an assist.
Kyle Hoglund was in on three assists, and Sean Morris and Ethan Michaelis each were credited with an assist.
Corey Childers had 18 saves.
SWAT 5, Bruins 4
Braeden Stack scored four goals as SWAT withstood the Bruins.
After Stack scored his team’s first four goals, Tyler Beardshear scored with 9:38 to play to give SWAT a 5-3 lead.
Kirsten Schaefer scored with 31 seconds left to pull the Bruins to within a goal.
Ryan Beardshear had an assist, and Brandon Wagoner had 20 saves.
Trent Sievers scored twice for the Bruins and Joseph Loya once.
Chris Hernandez had 25 saves.
Extreme 8, Misfits 6
In yet another division match decided late, Peter Skowron and Aaron Cree scored goals in overtime to lift the Extreme past the Misfits.
Cree finished the match with two goals. Amanda Vongries led the Extreme in scoring with five goals.
Julia Wong had an assist and Dylan Rodriguez had 16 saves.
Alexander Gomez and Daniel Chladek each posted three goals for the Misfits.
Colin Reyes had an assist and Ismael Ralsten recorded 25 saves.
