Central Park Invitational

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Junior Melanie Powers finished first to lead five Corona del Mar runners in the top nine as the Sea Kings won the Division III team title and posted the fastest combined time of the day for all five divisions Saturday.

Powers finished the three-mile course in 18 minutes, 29 seconds to top the Division III field.

Senior Laura Bilder (third in 18:51), senior Kim Condino (sixth, 19:16), junior Marissa Cummings (eighth, 19:29) and junior Allie Garrett (ninth, 19:35) rounded out CdM’s top five.

Senior Tina Theriot (19:56) and junior Christine Light (20:25) were 13th and 14th, respectively, for the Sea Kings.

Yucaipa Invitational

YUCAIPA — Freshman Ericka Garcia finished third to help Estancia High capture the Division III team title Saturday at Yucaipa High.

Garcia completed the three-mile course in 19 minutes, 47 seconds to pace an Eagles squad that included freshman Mariah Chapin (13th in 21:02), Sierra Gordon, (15th, 21:12), senior Sindy Ramirez (16th, 21:13), freshman Melissa Correa (19th, 21:29), junior Alejandra Peralta (22nd, 21:33), Jessica Dominguez, (23rd, 21:57) and senior Brianna Valencia (37th, 23:02).

Estancia was tied with Apple Valley, but won the tiebreaker based on the best time among the teams’ sixth runners.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Yucaipa Invitational

YUCAIPA — Junior Jorge Martin finished second Saturday to help Estancia High defend its Division III team title for the fourth straight year at Yucaipa High.

Martin finished the three-mile course in 16 minutes, 41 seconds. Senior Wes Barloon (ninth in 17:30), senior Willy Rodriguez (11th, 17:35), senior Damian Leon (12th, 17:42), freshman Vincente Lopez, (18th, 17:56), junior Michael Davila (22nd, 18:02) and senior Roberto Ramirez (43rd, 19:19) also contributed for the winners.

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Blake Kelly had seven goals and junior Zach Lucas had six assists and six steals to lead the Sailors in the nonleague home win Saturday.

Junior Jack Yeager had four goals and one assist, while seniors David Linden (three goals), Andy Hayes (two goals, two assists) and Dusty Hayes (three assists and three steals) also helped Newport Harbor improve to 7-3.

Senior Nick Holbrook made nine saves for the winners, who play host to Sunset League rival Los Alamitos at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
