Financial planning seminars start today
Expert financial advice for tough times will be offered during eight consecutive seminars when 12 charitable organizations team up for the free “It’s Your Money” workshop series.
Focusing on a different topic each week, the sessions will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on eight consecutive Fridays, starting today in the Multipurpose Room at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St.
Fiduciary Peter C. Kote, chairman of the Laguna Canyon Foundation’s Estate Planning and Gifts Committee, will moderate. Presented by Kote and local financial professionals, the sessions will:
Answer questions regarding fixed-income investments;
Explain the difference between annuities, variable annuities and mutual funds;
Explore factors to consider with long-term care insurance; and
Define differences between asset managers, financial planners, stockbrokers, bankers and insurance agents.
Workshop participants will not be approached to make charitable contributions or purchase financial products, and speakers and presenters will not receive their contact information.
For reservations, call Guine at Laguna Canyon Foundation, (949) 497-8324.
Pompeii exhibit excursion planned
Seniors are invited to join the Susi Q Senior Center for a day at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on June 1 to see “Pompeii and the Roman Villa,” with about 120 works of sculpture, painting, mosaic and luxury arts.
Recent discoveries from around the Bay of Naples that have never been exhibited in the United States will complement more familiar finds from earlier excavations.
The trip includes round rip transportation, a guided tour of this special exhibit, followed by a gourmet boxed lunch and free time to explore the museum’s permanent collection at your leisure.
The group will leave at 10 a.m. and return to the center at 5 p.m.
The cost is $74 per person. To join in, call Trudi Joyce (949) 497-9986.

All guests will receive a souvenir logo glass and a discount on purchases made at the visitors center.
