Border Patrol agent at Rotary

The Laguna Beach Rotary Club will host Ivan Cole, senior patrol agent and community relations officer of the San Clemente Border Patrol Station, at noon April 9 at the Aliso Creek Inn.

Cole will give a talk on the history and mission of the Border Patrol.

Cole has been with the agency for seven years and also served in the Air Force as a security police explosive detector dog handler.

He has also worked for Sam’s Town Hotel Casino Security and Father Flanagan’s Boys Town in Las Vegas.

Law office hosts Business Exchange

The Coastal Business Exchange will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the offices of John Isaza of Howett Isaza Law Group, 465 Forest Ave., Suite H.

Admission is free but reservations are recommended. Members of the local business community and the public are invited to attend.

Howett Isaza Law Group specializes in corporate compliance matters, and complex business, real estate, construction and environmental litigation. Its principals have a combined 40 years’ experience representing Fortune 500 to small- and mid-sized business entities, commercial and residential real estate developers and brokers, property owners and product manufacturers, according to its website. LaBohn Memorial golf classic set

The sixth annual Dave LaBohn Memorial Spring Classic Charity Golf Tournament will be at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo on May 17. The cost is $175 including golf, Spring Classic golf shirt, prizes, lunch and dinner. Dinner guests are $35.

All proceeds will go to the Laguna Beach High School Girls & Boys Golf Teams, Laguna Beach Community Clinic, the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach, Pacific Marine Mammal Center, the Senior Center, and the Resource Center.

To reserve a spot, send a check payable to Spring Classic Golf Tournament to 214 Ocean Ave., Laguna Beach, CA 92651. Check and entry forms must be received no later than May 7.

Sponsorships are available and silent auction items are being sought from local retailers.

‘Open for Business’ workshop set

An “Open for Business” workshop for business owners and others interested in opening or expanding businesses in Laguna Beach will take place 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 7 in the Laguna Beach Community Center, 380 Third St. The meeting is sponsored by the Business Promotion Task Force.

Workshop participants will include planning commissioners, city staff, Chamber of Commerce officials and successful local business owners.
