Pentecostal events set

Two local churches will have special events for Pentecost on Sunday.

?Neighborhood Congregational Church will host its annual Pentecost Sunday celebration with sister churches Samoan Congregational and Santa Ana First Congregational beginning at 10 a.m. Pentecost is a Christian celebration of the church’s birth after Easter, when Christians proclaim that the Holy Spirit rushed through a room where Jesus’ followers were gathered and gave them the gifts and calling to unify as a new faith in God. Pastors from all three churches will lead the worship celebration: The Rev. Nua Lualemaga of the Samoan Congregational Christian Church, the Rev. Larry Grim of First Congregational and the Rev. B.J. Beu of NCC. Singing, dancing, praying and worshiping will be followed by a Samoan luau in Bridge Hall. The church is at 340 St. Ann’s Drive. For more information, call (949) 494-8061

?St. Mary’s Episcopal Church will hold a Gathering of the Faith Community and Sing to Celebrate the Holy Spirit from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at 428 Park Ave. Congregations will share short examples of how the holy spirit worked in their communities this year. For more information, call the parish office at (949) 494-3542 or visit www.stmaryslb.org.
