Volunteers wanted for statewide beach cleanup

Share

It’s time again to hit the beach for a day of cleaning.

Huntington Beach is participating Saturday morning in the statewide 26th annual Coastal Clean-Up Day.

The cleanup netted more than 1.3 million pounds of trash when 80,000 volunteers descended on California’s beaches and waterways last year.

Residents can help keep the beach pristine from 9 a.m. to noon just north of the pier. Volunteers should go to the beach parking lot at 1st Street and turn left into the lot. Parking will be free.

Volunteers will be provided with bags and gloves, but should bring comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen.
